About Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church. Through the waters of Baptism, we are cleansed of original sin and become children of God, members of the Body of Christ, and heirs to eternal life.
In Rwanda, Baptism is celebrated in parishes across the country. Parents and godparents are required to attend preparation sessions to understand the responsibilities of raising a child in the faith.
Requirements
- • Baptismal certificate of parents (if Catholic)
- • Godparents must be confirmed, practicing Catholics
- • Completion of a Baptism preparation course
- • A valid copy of the child's birth certificate
